With the release of Commander Legends, the Commander format also got its second dose of mono colored partners, and the first mono colored partners that can be paired with each other. Naturally, after the release of a new set, there’s a push to build with one of the new commanders, but picking just one can be quite a challenge. Instead of picking one commander how about two... or eight? I could spend time building unique decks based around the different mono white pairings, or I could save everyone a lot of time and build one commander deck that can seamlessly switch out its commanders. This mono white commander deck is designed to function with any of the partner commanders at the helm and function uniquely depending on the pair you choose. In order to get different play patterns, I filled the deck with a variety of white tutors. It’s a little unintuitive, normally we think of tutors as increasing consistency, but in this case the targets for your tutors will change depending on the commanders you choose to run. This obviously comes with some pitfalls. Where most of the time a deck is designed to be streamlined based on its commander, this deck is being pulled in a variety of directions. This can create some clunky and awkward draws that will require some navigating to right the ship. That said, this is more intended as a thought experiment to explore various synergies between the partners all at once. I’ve included some clear pairings below, but I hope you enjoy exploring the various pairings and how the cards in the deck synergize with a variety of commanders. Akroma/Serra Flyers Serra/Prava Flying Tokens Ardenn/Rebbec Equipment Livio/Prava Tokens Akroma/Keleth Voltron Serra/Keleth Voltron Alharu/Keleth Counters Beyond these themes you can also pair commanders that have complimentary abilities. Livio does a great job building value in the early game so you can take advantage of Akroma or Serra late game. Because of the equipment theme of the deck, Ardenn works well if you want to lean to more of an equipment orient playstyle regardless of the other partner. I’m sure that certain combinations are superior to others. Rebbec and Alharu may not pair naturally together, but this deck is about exploring how a commander can change the emphasis of your deck.
